Antique Victorian Red Cotton Day Dress with Printed Cornucopia Pattern
Absolutely beautiful Victorian day dress, this is where Laura Ashley took her influence from. This dress style is pretty timeless and you could easily wear it today. The print is gorgeous depicting baskets of cornucopia printed with a warm cherry red onto the softest cotton fabric. With buttons down the front of the fitted bodice, a mandarin collar and masses of gathering at the waist it automatically gives you an hourglass shape. Also at the waist the underskirt is gathered too which acts like a fitted bustle, this underskirt has maybe been chopped off at some point as it only sits on the upper part now.
Over the years there have been a few alterations here and there, with the addition of poppers to the opening and you can see different coloured stiching in places. There is a tiny worn area on the front, see image with arrow but it's is bery minor and the overall condition of this stunning dress is really good, especially how it has kept its colour so well.

Vintage sizing is very different to modern day sizes, they usually are at least 2 sizes smaller depending on the era of manufacture. So to ensure a good fit please go by the measurements provided. I measure the garment laid flat edge to absolute edge then double, which give the maximum, you will need to measure your own clothes to compare sizing
