Vintage A stein & Co Perma Lift waist cinching corselette

This is how you get the vintage shape beneath your dresses. Look at those bombshell curves, wowza!  She'll be even more hourglass on someone real, other than my manny because you can see she's not filling it out to give it justice. It's come up lovely after its bath, although you can just see a tiny spot of lipstick on the right cup. The wash did remove most of it but not that little speck.

Made by A Stein & Co, Perma Lift, Chicago USA it's is quite a beauty of a vintage corselettes giving such a fantastic foundation curvy shape, and covering the bottom so neatly before, giving a really wonderful sillhouette.

I've included a pic of it on a body where it measures 39" hip, 28.5" waist which is probably the max it can go. The person in image is DD bust, so I doubt the cups would be sufficient for D+. If you're a small cup, you can slip some chicken fillets in between the felt and the lace to give you the shape you need.

  • A Stein & Co, Perma Lift, Chicago USA made.
  • Semi padded cups with felt, lace outer.
  • Elasticated body shaper with ribbon at waist.
  • Covers the derrier & cinches the waist.
  • Hook and eye front fastening with a ribbon tie to adjust the bust closure.
  • Boned front and back.
  • Please note there are no straps or suspender straps included with this item.

Measures:

  • Size on label 32", 90cm bust, 24" waist but the manny is 36" bust and as you can see she's not filling out those generous cups.
  • 36"-38" across top.
  • 26" - 28" waist.
  • 36" - 39" hip.
  • 12" Front length.
  • Back length 15 3/4".
  • Side length 25".
  • 18" overall length.
  • 8" cup size - I'd guesstimate the cup size to be a C or D? Although that is a guess.

CONDITION: Structurally sound, there's a teeny orange lipstick mark on the lace of the right bust which still persisted after it's bath, but the rest has come up lovely. The edges near front bone is slightly frayed, see detail images.

    About vintage condition

All our vintage items are individually selected for their quality and style. Vintage items may come with minor flaws due to pre-loved wear, bearing in mind 'vintage' means older than 20 years, 'antique' means over 100 years old.

    Colour Disclaimer

We have done our best to describe the colours and shades of the fabric, clothes and products listed here, but because monitors vary in the display of colour differently and some descriptive terms used for shades of colour can be perceived and interpreted differently, depending on the viewer, we cannot be held responsible if you receive something and the colour doesn't look how you envisioned it would.

Online shopping does create challenges in this respect, so if you have your heart set on a very specific type of colour or shade, in order to avoid disappointment, please contact us first so we can try and provide more information regarding the item you're interested in.  We do not offer refunds for differing colour perceptions.

    Caring for vintage

As with all vintage the number one rule is take care!

The garments will likely be over 20 years old or even 120 years old so please bear that in mind when dressing and handling. The older/antique items do require very careful handling as natural products used in the cottons and fabrics are more susceptible to natural wear and becoming fragile.

Hand-wash when you can, gently will cool water and special detergent designed for vintage clothing. Leave to soak overnight, do not wring or spin. Use a towel to wrap and soak up most of the water.

Be mindful that most of the older fabrics will not react well to washing machines or dry cleaning, unless they are a specialist cleaner.

With suits and outerwear, dry brush and lightly steam.

Steaming is good for most vintage, the steam kills bacteria and smells, then you can give it a brush afterwards.

To deodorise - we use a special mix of alcohol and anti bacterial essences, our own brand. Message if you want to buy a bottle. It also doubles as a hand sanitiser.
