1800s Antique Victorian Cashmere Caped Jacket • Queen Victoria
This early Victorian bolero jacket is divine, with bell flared sleeves, a caped yolk, scalloped edging, crewel embroidery made from a pale mushroom beige cashmere wool, is is Queen Victoria to the letter. I am sure I saw a very similar on on the TV show with Gemma Coleman as she played Victoria in her early years, whilst Albert was still alive.
- Just look at those sleeves!
- And it's got an attached cape
- Scalloped edges
- Genuine antique jacket
- Good size and very wearable
Measures laid flat edge to edge
- Pictured on a 36" bust mannequin - I will have to measure again as I cannot find where I put them... remind me if I forget, but from memory it should fit from 10 to a 12 easily, maybe even 14.
Great antique condition, very wearable, but there are moth grazes and a couple of pin prick holes, it has been in the freezer to kill eggs. Also the silk lining to the caped area is very shattered, so I would probably just remove it. I will leave that to the new owner to decide when they prefer authenticity or not.
Vintage sizing is very different to modern day sizes, they usually are at least 2 sizes smaller depending on the era of manufacture. So to ensure a good fit please go by the measurements provided. I measure the garment laid flat edge to absolute edge then double, which give the maximum, you will need to measure your own clothes to compare sizing
